This is the fourth book in Kari Trumbo's Seven Brides of South Dakota series. I haven't read the previous books in this series, but I felt this book could stand on its own.
I listened to the audio version of the book. While the narrator wasn't my favorite (on this book - I've heard her on other audio books and enjoyed them) I did enjoy the story. For the most part, the plot was realistic. There was one thing I thought was strange, but won't mention it due to spoilers.
Another easy and entertaining read/listen by Kari Trumbo that I would definitely recommend picking up."

- Romance in Rapid is a wonderful addition to this series. All Frances Arnsby wants to do is become a published author. Clive Davidson doesn't think her story is worth his time, except for the fact that he falls in love with her when he first sees her. Clive tells Frances her book needs to be more real and that she needs to get some life experience to make her books more real and believable. Clive has the perfect plan for this, have Frances escort a visitor from England around Rapid City. Little does Clive know that this English gentlemen is no gentleman and he regrets mentioning this. Oh did I mention that Frances is staying with her friend Constance who is so mean and rude to Frances it's unbelievable.
I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Trumbo did a great job in telling a story about two people in a setting I've never read about before, an author and a newspaper man. I can't wait to see what the next book holds. I highly recommend Romance in Rapid for others to read. - Love all her books! I finished this wonderful book at 3 in the morning. I really couldn't put it down! It was filled with sweet clean romance, a heroine and hero that you fall in love with their character. You are such a talented, gifted author. They are filled with true history and so much adventure.. Also they are filled with faith in God and are so uplifting. I can hardly wait for the next one in this series.

- Romance in Rapid is the fourth book in the Seven Brides of South Dakota Series. When the unexperienced Frances goes on a date with a rich socialite for a newspaper reporter, she finds what men can be like. What she finds is that men are not what they appear and that love can develop when you don’t expect it. Clive, the reporter, sees a woman that needs to learn how to feel and experience romance. However, his actions to help her turned around to opening up himself to love with a woman that he shouldn’t want. Love stories can be rewritten and give us all the love and happy ending that we all desire. A wonderfully written story with romance, hardships, action and tragedy. I had a hard time putting down, as it was a one-of-a-kind and captivating story. I couldn’t get to the end fast enough to see if love would win out.
The characters are well developed, engaging and realistic. It is easy to connect with the characters. They aren’t perfect; they have their flaws just like you and I do. This makes the characters realistic and easy to connect to. They will quickly become like one of your friends, neighbors and family. I will definitely continue to read the series to see what happens with the rest of the characters.
Kari Trumbo is a talented author that gets better and better. She has a gift for writing entertaining and sweet stories. I have read several books by her and have not been disappointed yet! She has quickly become one of my go-to authors that I really enjoy reading. I recommend this book and series to anyone that enjoys reading a clean western romance with a delightful ending. This book is part of a series; however, it is a stand-a-lone. If you are looking for a good series than Seven Brides of South Dakota is a great place to start. - Romance in Rapid Seven Brides of South Dakota Book 4 is by Kari Trumbo. This is another Arnsby family novel. These novels are easy to read and read fast. They are escapism at its best with a little history thrown in.
Frances Arnsby has traveled to Rapid City to visit her pen pal Constance Charity. They have written faithfully for years and have become great friends, or so Frances thought. What hadn’t come across in her letters was Constance’s total involvement in herself. It was about to drive Frances insane; but to get her manuscript published, she would do just about anything.
Frances takes her manuscript to the Black Hills Union hoping to get it printed as a serial; but instead of seeing the editor, she sees the head reporter, Clive Davidson. He takes it and reads it while marking it up with his red pen. He thinks it is terrible and needs lots of work. He is willing to help Frances rewrite it; but will his payment be too much for her? While he is helping her, he wants her to go out with a visitor from England, Turner. Will this be a big mistake?

This book, like the others, stands on its own as a story complete in and of itself. It is enhanced by the characters referenced from other books that you have read by this author. Romance in Rapid shows us the maturing of a young woman of determination and strong character. She's followed her dreams to Rapid City, only to find that she doesn't have the experience she needs to make them all come true and the friends she thought she could rely on to help her may not have been true friends. Rather than allow the situation to defeat her, she finds a way to her own HEA gaining the experience she needs to make her dreams come true. I highly recommend this book and any book in the Seven Brides of South Dakota Series. I hope you like them as much as I do.
