Black Panther The Young Prince Ronald L Smith 9781368008495 Books Reviews

  • What happens when the young prince of Wakanda goes undercover at a middle school on on the south side of Chicago? He makes friends with the nerds, destroys everyone at wrestling, and discovers a love of Jell-O and pizza. Loved this depiction of a strong, but thoughtful young hero --beautifully written, packed with adventure, perfectly paced. You'll be jumping up and down and screaming by the time he finally puts the suit on!
  • Very well-written book, I would highly recommend for young readers and old readers alike -- anyone who enjoys a simple action novel! Reading this got my hype to see the movie this weekend!
  • My students are eating this one up and, being a super nerdy fan of both Marvel and Black Panther, I definitely wanted to read this one.
I enjoyed learning more about T’Challa as a young boy, as well as some interesting connections to other Marvel characters that I didn’t expect. I would have liked a little more development of some of the characters, and a resolution to T’Challa’s relationship with his brother. And, I REALLY missed Shuri. All in all, however, I was thoroughly entertained and gobbled this up in a day!!
  • This is a great read for audiences of all ages. It has action, realistic characters, and a satisfying ending. Even younger students would sit still for a reading. Kudos. I was afraid this would be a bust. However, the blurb was intriguing and so, I bought the book. I was pleasantly surprised. Young T'Challa definitely lived up to his heritage and you can see the man he will become.
  • The Black Panther lore is here with a good dose of action and junior high difficulties. This is quick read that is filled with short chapters that shift the story into gear from the start. I enjoyed the challenges Smith poses for the young men. A very good mixture of Superhero and coming of age friction.

    Recommended.
  • Got it for my 7yr old and he loved it. Said he's going to read it again before he lets anybody borrow it.

  • My grandsons enjoyed reading it the first time through, then read it again after seeing the movie!
